Powis Castle & Gardens, near Welshpool / Y Trallwng
A wonderful location, a fairy tale, this was the mightiest of all Marcher strongholds. The castle has one of the most fabulous gardens in Britain. The gardens have terraces, unique lead statues, landscaped avenues and walks. The treasures of the castle were brought back from India.
Erddig near Wrexham
Voted Britain's second finest stately home in the Channel Five series "Britain's Finest". The home contains a collection of portraits, photographs and verses which record some of the people who worked on the estate and tells of the Yorke family, whose family owned the home.
Some of the rooms include Laundry, Bake House, Agent's Office, and a butler's pantry.
Upstairs the rooms contain original collections of 18th century furniture.
The other rooms are dining room, saloon, drawing room, nursery, state bedroom, chapel and the servant's quarters.
There is also a small Chinese room.
Outside, the estate buildings are joiners & blacksmiths.
It also has a saw Mill, cart shed's, stable yard, tackroom, carriages, vintage cycles and cars.
The walled garden is one of the most important surviving 18th century garden's in Britain. It has rare fruit trees, canal, pond and a national ivy collection.
